Last weekend’s season finale did not disappoint. It was full of answers, schemes, political plots, deaths, and dragons. However, the episode created new questions as well that will keep fans on the edge of their seats until the final season. The most ardent one is what did Tyron and his sister Cersei discuss behind closed doors? For a moment, the camera stopped intruding on their private meeting. During this time, the two Lannister brothers might have planned a secret conspiracy together. For instance, Tyrion might have just appointed Cersei’s unborn child as the next Lannister heir to the Iron Throne.
George R. R. Martin Books Pointed out a Prophecy Daenerys Received in the Past
This might be a far-fetched theory, but Game of Thrones taught us that nothing is what it seems. There are hints of Tyrion’s unclear fate throughout the season seven. First of all, he might be the only one that looks past the War for the Iron Throne.
Therefore, the audience saw him how he urged Daenerys Targaryen to choose an heir as soon as possible. With Dany placing other problems above this issue and revealing that he cannot bear any heir, the seat remained empty.
Secondly, the books of George R. R. Martin add more content to this Game of Thrones theory. The paper version holds more lore about this fantasy universe than producers can ever cram in eight seasons. Therefore, the author reveals that not only Cersei but also Daenerys received a prophecy. The riddle contains the following prediction:
“Three treasons will you know… once for blood and once for gold and once for love…”
Tyrion Still Loves His Family Enough to Agree with a Lannister Heir on the Iron Throne
The few moments we see Tyrion talking privately to his sister, he confessed that he loves his family although there are some exceptions. As he learns that Cersei is with child, his own feelings might have become too overwhelming to remain loyal to Daenerys. As a consequence, he might have just betrayed his queen for the love he bears to his family.
Since Tyrion is the only one in the world that knows his sister’s character well, he must have sensed that her pledge to the truce was actually a lie. He didn’t tell Daenerys anything about this moment which leads to the supposition that he holds some truth back.
Therefore, the only plausible explanation is that Tyrion wants to see Cersei’s child as the Lannister heir to the Iron Throne. His love mixed with guilt for the harm he caused his family might be enough incentives to switch sides.
