President Trump believes that the Department of Justice put a “spy” inside of his presidential campaign in an attempt to frame him. The FBI focused on crimes that Trump says he “didn’t commit.”
Trump tweeted on Friday: ”’Apparently the DOJ put a Spy in the Trump Campaign. This has never been done before and by any means necessary, they are out to frame Donald Trump for crimes he didn’t commit,’” quoting Fox Business Network anchor David Asman. He ended the tweet with this quip: ”Really bad stuff!”

Not long after the tweet was released, Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump’s lawyers, said that his legal team had been told “off the record” of an informant. Giuliani added that he did not know if the information was accurate.
Giuliani: There Was Some Kind of Infiltration
“I don’t know for sure, nor does the president, if there really was one,” Giuliani told CNN. “For a long time we’ve been told by people that there was some kind of infiltration.”
Trump’s Friday tweet was the second in two days that the president claimed the government put a “spy” inside his campaign.
On Thursday Trump tweeted that former President Barack Obama had “spied on the Trump campaign.” He referenced a former Justice Department official who made the allegation on Fox News.
“Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI ‘SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN EMBEDDED INFORMANT,'” Trump tweeted. “Andrew McCarthy says, ‘There’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign.’
“If so, this is bigger than Watergate!” the president noted.

This last tweet seemed to reference an appearance by McCarthy on Fox News Thursday morning. He is an ex-federal prosecutor and former assistant U.S. Attorney. McCarthy claimed there was an informant put into the Trump campaign.
McCarthy: No Doubt At Least One Informant
“I’ve written a couple of columns in the last week or so pointing out that there’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign,” McCarthy said on Fox News.
He made this same claim on May 12th in the National Review. He questioned whether the FBI had used a “human source” inside the Trump campaign. They were attempting to substantiate elements of the “Steele Dossier.” This 35 page document ignited the investigation into Trump’s connection with Russia.
