President Trumps said he would defeat Oprah Winfrey in a potential presidential race.
American media sensation, Oprah Winfrey, stirred the country during her Golden Globes speech prompting many people to wonder if the star would run for president. While the former talk show host previously said she had no intention to pursue the ticket, her best friend, CBS News host Gayle King, said Tuesday that Winfrey is “intrigued” by the idea. The United States’ actual president weighed in on the prospect of running against the media icon.
“I’ll beat Oprah,” President Trump said on Tuesday during a White House meeting. While Trump seemed certain of his victory, he then added: “I don’t think she’s going to run.”

Winfrey’s best friend said on Tuesday that the philanthropist loves her country and wants to serve it in any way possible. However, Gayle states that Winfrey isn’t actively considering running for president at this time.
Following Oprah’s passionate speech at the Golden Globes, many viewers wondered if the Democratic party would endorse a celebrity candidate in 2020. The Republicans embraced Trump in 2016 regardless of his political experience and it proved beneficial for the party.
Even Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, endorsed Oprah’s message, tweeting on Monday her support.
Winfrey said in September and again in October that she was not considering running for office, though Trump’s victory made her reconsider a possible presidential run.
