With brand new smartphones, fresh built tablets and a new headset that simulates a virtual reality launched, the Mobile World Congress 2015 was one of the most talked about events in technology in the first part of the year.
The new devices announced in just a week`s time, produced by big names like Microsoft or HTC, varied from an eye-scanning smartphone to curve-designed gadgets. Alongside famous brands stood less-renowned producers, but, even so, their devices did not remain unnoticed.
Here are some of the most intriguing gadgets that were presented at the Mobile World Congress this year.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
Many say that this year`s big winner was the new Galaxy model from the South-Korean company. Its main features are a 3 GB RAM, a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 2.1 GHz CPU and a 16 MP, 2988 x 5312 pixels camera. It is said that it will be available beginning with April, but the producers didn`t announce a price for it. Still, specialists say it will cost around 780 dollars unlocked.
HTC One M9
It is very similar in design to its predecessor, but its main target is to fix some things that the M8 didn`t do properly. The smartphone features a 20 MP camera, but it also has HTC`s UltraPixel camera, that was placed to the front of the new model. HTC officials said the new smartphone will be on sale this Spring. They didn`t make any comments on the pricing.
Blackphone+
The new tablet is perfect for keeping all of your secrets safe. Its new OS has an improved processor and an enhanced screen. The producers say the tablet`s main target is to protect metadata.
BlackBerry Leap
A surprise comes from the Canadian company. At this year`s Mobile World Congress they have launched the BlackBerry Leap, a no QWERTY keyboard, all-touch smartphone. It features an 8 MP camera and a 2800mAh battery. But the most intriguing aspect is its price. It will be available for only $275 unlocked. The producers did not announce when it will start to be sold.
Virtual Reality Headsets
This new type of device designed for great gaming experience is continuously expanding. HTC has released the Vive VR headset and it was given very good reviews by the analysts.
Huawei Watch
Huawei has released an Android smartwatch that looks incredibly good. But looking like that doesn`t always mean good news. There are rumors that the watch will be sold for around 1000 dollars thus becoming the most expensive Android product.
There also was a social media confrontation between the big names at the Mobile World Congress. When it comes to Twitter mentions, HTC tops the list. HTC was mentioned 21,129 times, while Samsung and Huawei complete the top 3 with 20,519 and 16,107 respectively.
Even if they weren`t present at the congress, Apple was the 11th most mentioned on Twitter during the event.
