The Apple iPhone 7 may have a significantly bigger battery and the Cupertino-based giant’s phablet could arrive with a bigger 3,100-mAh battery, as a new rumor indicates. The increased battery power will give customers more usage time between single charges, assuming that they will purchase the ‘Plus’ edition of the smart phone.
At their launch in the fall of 2016, Apple’s iPhones from the 7 series will be offered in identical 4.7” and respectively 5.5” dimensions as their predecessors, according to the cited sources, however they will be different internally. Besides the expected bigger battery, they sources affirm that iPhone 7 Plus may be sold with a whopping 256 GB of storage space.
This will come as a blessing for some of the company’s fans who are annoyed by Apple’ insistence on providing mobile devices with a small 16 GB capacity, in order to maintain the costs of its devices as low as possible. Some flagship devices have 128 GB of internal memory, but nothing bigger than that.
However, some tech specialists are not sure by the second rumor, affirming that the information seems implausible. They believe it is unlikely that the company would provide different storage memory on its iPhone 7 gadgets. Apple released the iPhone 6 series in 2014, having almost identical specifications, say the experts, and it did the same with its 6s models launched last year.
In both series, the mobile phones were placed as two basically equal versions of different dimensions. To give more storage just on the iPhone 7 Plus will not be in accordance with past generations, but specialists also notice that the 6 Plus model has a bigger battery in comparison to the standard design of Apple’s phablets.
Tech sources observed that the speculation indicating a 12.5% increase in Apple’s battery capacity would not also produce a large surge in its regular usage. Nevertheless, an increase in processor performance and an improvement in the power necessities of the recent mobile iOS 9 could offer the next-gen iPhone even bigger energy boosts.
It is possible that all new hardware and programs on the upcoming Apple devices may consume even more energy and the battery could have the same life or even lower. We will see if Apple can force a bigger battery into thinner cases or if other improvements will appear down the line. Some tech experts think this implies that the future iPhone 7 Plus will likely increase its size over the current 5.5 limit.
