Stress is not a result of inner turmoil only. This condition can also be induced by social, political, and professional factors that affect an entire community. On this very precept was created a new report. The research paper documented the level of stress among citizens based on the quality of life people have within a state. The findings of the study suggest that Alabama is the most stressed state in the United States.
Scientists Employed 33 Parameters as a Way to Quantify Stress
A personal finance company namely WalletHub conducted a research endeavor to determine the level of stress people feel in each of the U.S. states. While Alabama was found the most stressed state of all, the least worried population seems to reside in Minnesota.
Researchers pursued their goal by analyzing the psychical condition of a group of citizens from each of the 50 American states. They didn’t neglect the Colombia district either. However, researchers did not proceed blindly yet they focused on four types of stressors. These stress categories were related to health, family, work, and security.
In total, researchers based their individual assessments on 33 parameters that measured the intensity with which a stressor impacted one’s life. Each of them had 100 points, where a total score of 100 signified the highest possible level of stress. Eventually, they collected all individual data from each state and ranked them according to the average number of points on each of the parameters.
In the end, scientists have also resorted to the body of information from Center for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Census, and other such sources to round up their study. These extra details improved the observations of the study greatly.
Minnesota Was Found the Least Stressed State in U.S.
According to the conclusion of the study, Alabama topped all others by being the most stressed state. The total score of the average influence of stressors over citizens was of 56.91. Residents signaled issues in several departments, such as physical health and low psychological support as there are too few professionals. Moreover, the study found that Alabama people sleep the least in the entire America. Closely after the worst performing state came Louisiana with 56.22 points and Mississippi with a score of 55.62.
Minnesota stood on the other side of the balance. The state has scored the fewest points with a score of 31.07. Researchers found that most residents here have no major issues with their health. Moreover, there are enough psychologists to mend people’s relationship with sources of stress. Another parameter of good psychological condition was a low rate of divorces.
