Joseph Delgado is currently developing a VR mode for GTA V.
Ever thought about how it will feel like to play a game using the VR headset? Well, according to some users out there, it’s not a pretty sight. And now the spam’s about to hit the fan with GTA V VR.
Yes, the game is about to receive its VR support, thanks to one modder who believes in the power of VR. Joseph Delgado, a veteran modder, who was involved in another project, is currently working on a VR mode for the critically-acclaimed GTA V.
While everybody is pretty hyper about busting some head and popping people full of lead, there are those who believe that the new experience will somehow alter the way we interact with the virtual world. More specifically, Delgado, along with other gamers and modders, fear that the gaming experience will become a little too real and frightening at the same time.
Well, this was the goal of computer games from the start, but we doubt that the players will be able to handle this much reality. Let us stop talking in riddles for a while and see what Delgado is talking about.
Although he is still far from developing a functional mode, the veteran modder managed to patch up about 50 percent of the game. In order to show his progress to his fans, Delgado posted on the internet a little GIF to give the player a taste of what’s to come.
In this 10-second clip, the player stops a car, upholsters his gun, pops a cap in the windshield and then follows the frightened driver in order to finish him off. This doesn’t seem something out of the ordinary, taking into account the fact that GTA V isn’t the bloodiest game out there. But imagine how it feels like when you take away your eyes from the display and put the headgear on.
The whole experience becomes visceral when you see that wounded man in front of your eye, begging for life while your gun is hovering above his head. And imagine seeing him squirm and bleed out before your very eyes, while you keep hearing his screams.
It’s quite a disturbing experience, come to think of it. And again we say, GTA V isn’t the bloodiest game out there.
The spam’s about to hit the fan with GTA V VR, but there are many players out there who think that we are not ready to handle this kind of reality.
Presently, the modder has started to integrate hand motion technology into the mod, along with intuitive vehicle controls.
