Senator Harry Reid attended a press conference with a bandage over his right eye that got him talking about his workout injury, which happened 3 weeks ago today. Apart from the plaster, there is a part of his right face that is visibly scarred and presents discoloration from bruising. The Senator, dressed in his Capitol office suit, calmly tells the cruel story of his accident: while working out with elastic bands, which he has been using for many years, one of them broke and hurt his eye and right side of the face. As a consequence, he must endure surgery next week to reconstruct the bone that has been broken. Moreover, the blood off the back of his eye must be drained and the procedure is also going to be done while he is being hospitalized.
Although he is already 75 years old and has gone through this horrific experience, the Senator is ready to run again in 2016 at the re-elections. He and his staff have worked tremendously since the unhappy event, in order to prove that he has been capable of respecting his duties to the state of Nevada as Senator and also as a party leader. There have been many publications that showed pictures of other Democrats visiting him at his home and then communicated federal money for the state.
The press conference was opened by the Senator who wanted to express his opinions about what was happening without him and especially by assaulting the Republicans and all their insistence in changing President Barrack Obama’s immigration policy.
“The first thing I want to say is this. All we have to do is look around the world – cyber attacks, North Korea, arrests, the deaths in Belgium, in France. And we now are facing the question here in the United States as to whether we’re going to fund homeland security? I just think is so out of line.”
Some other questions that were brought into discussion: opinions about middle class, the Congress, the amendments that Reid allowed and last but not least, the President’s push for free trade and his State of Union message.
“I believe this Congress will be determined whether it’s a success or a failure on what happens to the middle class. Right now what they’ve spent their time on is foreign oil coming across America to be shipped other places. That does not help the middle class.”
