NASA amazed the word the other day by publishing an extensive post on the origin of the thirteenth zodiac sign and the recalculation of the order of the zodiac signs. The Space Agency also explained how the signs came to be and why they were put in the predetermined order. They even clarified why Ophiuchus was left behind in the first place.
According to NASA’s official Tumblr post, about 3,000 years ago, an ancient and lost civilization called the Babylonians spent their time gazing at the stars and giving them different attributes. At a certain point, they started noticing that the most visible constellation on the sky at the moment of birth of a person was somehow related to the character that that individual developed.
The astrologers then correlated the planets that were visible to the naked eye with a month in the calendar, thus creating the zodiac.
However, the Earth’s axis is on a continuous shift, changing the perspective that we have in the night’s sky. This means that the stars that we see now are not the same ones that prompted the Babylonians to create the zodiac in the first place.
Compensating for planet alignment, and adding Ophiuchus to the usual roster, the new zodiac looks something like this:
January 20th – February 16th – Capricorn
February 16th – March 11th – Aquarius
March 11th – April 18th – Pisces
April 18th – May 13th – Aries
May 13th – June 21st – Taurus
June 21st – July 20th – Gemini
July 20th – August 10th – Cancer
August 10th – September 16th – Leo
September 16th – October 30th – Virgo
October 30th – November 23rd – Libra
November 23rd – November 29th – Scorpio
November 29th – December 17th – Ophiuchus
December 17th – January 20th – Sagittarius
According to astrologists, the legend of the signs says that they all aspire for unity, and the Serpent Bearer was a great prophet of non-violence.
Ophiuchus natives are impulsive, spirited, intelligent, and have an unyielding sexual appeal. However, they can become very jealous, and they can prove to be quite temperamental at times.
Other sign traits say that natives prefer to dress more flamboyantly than others and that they seek knowledge above all. Being the symbol of unity, Ophiuchus can’t be inserted in a relationship zodiac because it should get along with every sign. Until it doesn’t.
