Nintendo might consider Wii U as the biggest mistake among its products. However, it proved that it wasn’t entirely a failure. If it weren’t for this console, players wouldn’t have received their Miiverse social network. This platform was the only thing that saved Wii U from complete oblivion. The message board allowed players to share their drawings, messages, and screenshots. However, the company decided to turn it off completely at least in Japan.
The Miiverse Social Network Shutdown Will Impact Around 90 Games
On November 8th, Japan will no longer be able to use Miiverse. The social platform will stop working at 3 pm local time on both 3DS spectrum of consoles and Wii U. This decision will release a major impact to 20 3DS games and 70 Wii U productions. Most of these titles incorporated the message board directly into their hub network.
As a consequence, games such as New Super Mario Bros. U will appear with some pretty obvious empty spaces. The Mushroom Kingdom will, therefore, be poorer in content. Most of the affected games will still be functional. However, they will have no other choice but to deliver a less immersive experience.
The fate of the Miiverse social network was decided when producers announced that they wouldn’t transport this service to the new Nintendo Switch. More than that, the company is also going to kill TVii television service and Wii U chat application. Once these features meet their end on November 8, 3DS and Wii U players will receive error codes when opening their games.
Users Have the Option to Download Their Own Miiverse Posts
Nonetheless, Nintendo shows that the company understands the experiences their clients will go through. Therefore, the organization created a solution for those who will most miss these services. Users will be able to download Miiverse posts through the official Miiverse website. However, they can only preserve their own works.
Even though the shutdown operation has been announced only for Japan, it seems that it is only a matter of time until the same will happen in other regions. The new Switch didn’t adopt this service. This means that the company doesn’t see a future for this social platform.
