Twitter and Periscope are finally bringing the social media platform to the live video streaming market for their mobile users.
In a few days, Twitter users will be able to capture their best moments live with their phone cameras. This much-awaited feature was finally possible thanks to Twitter’s new investment in the video streaming startup called Periscope. The service is available for both Android and iOS operation systems. Mobile users will have a “Live” button next to the box for writing tweets. This way, it will be easy for them to incorporate a glimpse of their life in their composition.
It was not until 2015, when Twitter acquired Periscope and started this challenging project. The live broadcast feature has seen a series of tests on Android devices this spring. The results were satisfactory, and the company announced that all users would receive this update in the near future.
Moreover, the new live streaming option covers all necessities a social media user may have. For example, you don’t have to switch to another Periscope software when you intend to watch a live session. You can do all this just from the Twitter app. Moreover, you will receive a special notification whenever one of your friends is broadcasting live. Also, professional equipment will be compatible with the Live feature. You can stream anything you want with VR headsets, high-end cameras, and other types of equipment.
Once a mobile user is live, other users can interact with them in real time. People can leave comments on the live streaming. Furthermore, they can show their appreciation and support by sending reactions in the form of hearts. This way, Twitter has preserved some of the most exciting features of the Periscope app. Moreover, mobile users do not have to download Periscope to unlock this new live streaming feature.
This year, all social media platforms have experienced a boom of video content. Facebook has already implemented a real-time video feature that users are announced about in their News Feed. YouTube was next in line for this new technology. The company opened Live Events, where its users can watch or stream gaming reviews, musical performances, sports, news, and other entertaining means in real time.
In other words, Twitter might be a little behind the current trends. However, the CEO of Periscope stated that Twitter was already a source of live news and updates. It was just a matter of time until the company unlocked the possibility of sending live videos for its users.
