The Food Safety and Inspection Service dubbed as FSIS has recently announced a new list of mislabeling issues and unrecorded allergens. Therefore, the companies in the food sector that were the authors of some of these errors had to withdraw around 2 million pounds of meat products off the market. There are three companies for which the announcement was made. These are Tyson Foods Inc, Gourmet Boutique LLC, and Packer Avenue Foods Inc.
The Concerned Meat Products Present a High Health Risk
All three food producers have been shipping meat products that might contain a popular allergen. However, this element might not have received any entry on the labels of the merchandise in question. Therefore, all three companies had no other choice from a legal point than to recall their products from the market. These recent recalls bare the “High” health risk classification as Class I. So far, there are no registered side effects among consumers.
Tyson Foods Inc. is probably the company that carries most of the burden of this series of recalls. The producer announced the withdrawal of more than 2 million pounds of breaded chicken articles. More exactly, the new Holland Pennsylvania Institute ordered the retraction of 2,485,374 pounds. These products were mostly heading towards institutional points such as numerous nationwide schools.
Companies Received Reports on Undeclared Dairy Allergens from Suppliers
The company had to take this important recall decision the moment a member of the supplier chain reported an issue. They noticed that some bread crumbs they used for products contained milk residues. This element that can trigger serious allergies in some consumers was not displayed on the label of the product.
A similar case happened with Gourmet Boutique LLC when it came to their attention that some products contain undeclared dairy allergens. However, there was a smaller toll on this company. Gourmet Boutique had to recall only 300,000 pounds of meat articles due to mislabeling. On the other hand, Packer Avenue Foods Inc encountered same diary issues with their packed chicken salads.
