IKEA intends to offer a more flexible range of products that are essential for home customization.
The Swedish furniture company is notorious in every corner of the world thanks to its way of involving the owner to the construction of his or her own new product. However, stagnating to the same old selling point is not going to attract new customers. Snap is another example of what happens when a company clinches too much to a single idea. Thus, IKEA is always looking to bring innovation next to its title. The Swedish simple yet elegant design was a real catch for many years. However, as of recently, the company turned to smart products to offer customers the opportunity to tap into home customization.
IKEA Is a Believer in Simple yet Innovative Technology
IKEA announced intentions to release a new line of products that are specially created to offer a simple, accessible, and affordable alternative to everything on the market. Thus, the company kept it simple and avoided complicated technology.
Instead, the furniture manufacturer turned to LED light panels and light bulbs to offer its customers more power over their home customization. The smart products will be directly incorporated into cabinets. However, clients can purchase them alone and mount them on walls or ceilings.
IKEA Idea of Home Customization Revolves around Lights
The upcoming line of products is going to be based on ZigBee radios. This same technology powers up Philips Hue assets. ZigBee creates a local network based on digital radios of small radius. This feature is popular across secondary projects such as data collection for medical devices or even home automation. Thus, a household will be able to rely on a system of IKEA light bulbs. All of them are going to respond at the same time to the requests of their users.
As a consequence, clients will have to plug a ZigBee hub in a router. Afterward, they can simply control right from their smartphones different functions of the lights in the house to create the perfect ambient for them. Essentially, the smart products will allow them to dim or increase the brightness. They can even opt for different shades of light, such as white, vanilla or others. Another useful feature is that users can set a schedule to the house lighting and decide when to turn them on and off every day automatically.
