Earlier this week, Microsoft presented the Healthcare NExT, a new potential healthcare solution.
Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed its latest health care initiatives. In a blog post, it presented the Healthcare NExT. This will be trying to bring together AI, research, and the area’s expertise with help from partners.
On February 16, Microsoft posted some interesting news on its official company blog. In a post, it revealed that it has partnered up with UPMC. And also with others companies such as Tribridge. And also System C & Graphnet Care Alliance, as well as others. UPMC is the University of Pittsburg Medical Center.
These partnerships will have a common goal. They will try to improve the healthcare delivery system. How will they do so? With help from some quite interesting projects.
Healthcare NExT will be one such program. On its full name, this is Microsoft’s Healthcare NExT Initiative. The company officials described it as a “clinical empowerment” solution. One that will also be increasing its productivity with help from artificial intelligence or AI.
Microsoft will be collaborating with its partners in order to develop new such tools. Before hitting the market, these will first be implemented as part of UPMC.
For its part, Healthcare NExT was described as an initiative which could “dramatically” transform health care. The system will work as follows. It will be deeply integrating greenfield research. And it will also be helping in the health technology product development.
Healthcare NExT will also be helping establish a new Microsoft model. This should help with future potential strategic health industry collaborations and partnerships.
These future services and systems will be based on the current collaborations. And they will also function thanks to the Microsoft AI and Research organization. Such a partnership should open up a new road. One which should lead to innovations in the health industry. Such technologies could have a deep impact.
And they will be making use of Microsoft expertise in the AI field. The tech giant company will be bringing deep AI knowledge as well as its global-scale cloud.
The Healthcare NExT initiative will also include future investments. Microsoft will be helping its partners develop their resources. These may then be used in order to apply and introduce AI in healthcare.
AI technologies are already being used in the healthcare domain. But such variants are still quite limited. Microsoft is also already offering an AI solutions. This is the Microsoft AI in Health Partner Alliance.
The purpose of this expanding group of partners? Also to offer and advance health technology.
Healthcare NExT will also be seeing a number of additional collaborations. Through them, the partners will be able to apply either the cloud or AI systems or the existing research. These will be used in order to try and solve some of health care’s biggest problems.
The following are some of the Healthcare NExT initiatives. HealthVault Insights will be a research-based project. It should help establish innovative solutions so that patients will adhere to provider care plans.
Microsoft Genomics will be offering a simple and fast sample-to-answer process. It will be heavily based on the Azure genome analysis pipeline.
The Microsoft AI health chatbot technology will allow partners to develop their own AI chatbots. These will then be able to act as conversational health care tools.
One other example is also Project InnerEye. This AI-based software tool should help in radiotherapy planning. As it is, Healthcare NExT may lead to even more such collaborations. More details on the projects will probably be presented as they advance. Initiative descriptions can be accessed on the official Microsoft blog.
