Great news for those who’ve missed last year’s launch of Gears of War Ultimate Edition. According to Epic and Microsoft, Gears of War lands on PC. The game is now available for purchase in North America for 30 bucks and in Great Britain for 23 pounds.
Last year, all the PC community was frowning over Microsoft’s/Epic’s decision of launching the remastered version of Gears of War only for Xbox One. At that time, the two companies promised that a PC version will soon be under way.
Well, after a year of empty promises, hopelessness and many sleepless nights, we can all breathe easier, because the game is now available on PC. But wait, there’s more. To make it up to their fans, Microsoft and Epic have decided to launch the game with style.
So, apart from the original game, the customers will now be able to access additional content. Before discussing what’s in the box, let’s squeeze in a few words about Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
As you would imagine this is the remastered version of the game. And it would seem that the guys from Microsoft went over their head to surprise their fans. The graphics were upgraded with smoother edged and improved lighting. Moreover, the game can now be played in 4K quality.
Apart from the improved graphics, the boys also improved controls. According to the game’s official page, the port will now support both keyboard and game controller. And as an added feature, Gears of War Ultimate Edition will now run smoothly in Window 10, build version 1511.
For those of you who don’t know what Gear of War is, here are a couple of fact about the game. The first release of the game was released back in 2006. Although the critics were quite harsh on the game, Gears of War managed to win a lot of hearts, even though everyone kept complaining about the bugs.
Genre-wise speaking, Gears of Was is a third-person, action-adventure game with many RPG and stealth elements. The player takes the role of Markus Fenix, a convict, who is released from prison by the army to terminate the Locust threat.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition includes the original story from the first edition of GOW, but with an added twist. According to the two companies, the dev team included five new campaigns, which tell the story of Delta Squad. Moreover, it would seem that these campaigns were not included in the Xbox version of the game.
