Fans are definitely looking forward to the next episode of Game of Thrones. It’s not just about the hype, but people are uncertain about how alive one of the most hated characters who then turned into a top favorite is. Therefore, until the episode five Eastwatch this Sunday, we have the 30-second trailer to build up the theories and get ready for more awesome moments to come.
The Commander of the Eastwatch Saw Four Wights in Season 1 Finale
The choice of the title itself is the keyword of at what it is next to come. It definitely is a reference to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea castle. The Game of Thrones lore places it at the farthest eastern point of the Wall. It is actually among the few left to serve the Night’s Watch. There are two other manned castles, namely The Shadow Tower and Castle Black.
So far, Eastwatch never appeared on the show, yet it is an important location. That’s because it is the only point of the Wall with an opening to the sea. Normally, such ports are doing a great job gathering news from all over corners of the world. Eastwatch is connected to the Free Cities, King’s Landing, and many others.
The show mentions this point of interest in Season 1 finale. Jeor Mormont informed a much younger Jon Snow that outside this castle, Cotter Pyke, the commander of Eastwatch, tracked four dead bodies with blue eyes. This is a reference to White Walkers’ wights.
Episode Five Eastwatch Might Reveal How the White Walkers Intend to Go Beyond the Wall
Since it made it to the title, episode five Eastwatch might finally reveal the return of the White Walkers’ army. One theory is that the Undead will try to enter the land of the people through this point of the Wall. The Hound and his vision in the fire might have already answered how the Others would attempt to besiege the castle.
The Hound claimed that he saw how “the waves are frozen.” This phrase never made it to the show as it was cut. Nonetheless, this could mean that the army will walk on the frozen waters directly into the port of Eastwatch. From here on, the hell will break loose.
