It was only last month when Blizzard teased a large public of veteran gamers on one of its most successful productions ever. The producer announced a remastered version of the original StarCraft namely the Brood War version. The rework would enjoy a 4K resolution that adapts the classic game better to modern, sleek computer displays. After a tensioned period of silence, Blizzard moved to launch the pixelated classic as a freeware game on a worldwide scale.
Fans and Curious Players Can Download the Classic for Free for Both Mac and PC
As of recently, Blizzard Entertainment has finally put an end to rumors and unveiled its massive tribute for the beginning of the golden age of computer gaming. The company successfully ended a rework of one of its first hits, namely the original StarCraft, the Brood War version. The remastered game will come back to life with an impressive 4K resolution. However, the most astounding announcement is that the classical, original StarCraft is already available as a freeware game.
The event was promised for release in late-March. The announcement urged fans of the pixilated game to keep their eyes glued to updates for the 1.18 version of the production. However, the beta launch of the remastered work ended up spotting numerous issues and crashes for testers. As a consequence, Blizzard kept its latest project away from the public eye until this Tuesday for final tweaks. `
However, there was no surprise in the rocky restart of StarCraft. The producers haven’t tinkered this classic for eight years now. The freeware game is already available at this official link for both Mac and PC versions. Moreover, the game is compatible with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10. As for the Mac version, it runs smoothly on Beta 10.11 and upwards. Before this major update, fans and curious minds would have been able to purchase this game for a modest fee of $10 to $15.
The Freeware Game Comes Only Months Ahead of the Release of StarCraft: Remastered
The patched original StarCraft comes with a windowed fullscreen mode, improved responsiveness during sessions of online multiplayer games, and added number of actions for each minute. The freeware game offers access to Brood War expansion as well as to remastered artwork.
Developers are opening their classical hit only months ahead of a major graphical streamlining of the original StarCraft. By the end of this year, the company is going to launch an HD version of its production, dubbed as StarCraft: Remastered.
