Now, searching a specific post, photo or video on Facebook will be an easier task for the users as the social networking giant on Monday rolled out a new search feature, called keyword search, for iPhone and desktop users of the social network.
Developed atop its Graph Search product, the new search feature will allow the Facebook users to hunt their old posts as well as shared contents, images or videos from friends and public pages.
Currently, the feature is only available for the iPhone and desktop users. In its official announcement, Facebook has not specified about the roll out the added functionality to Android.
According to the reports, the user will be alerted about the availability of added feature on their account through an alert that will appear just below the search box.
Searching a specified post, photo or video can be made by just entering few keywords pertaining to the post that the user is willing to find.
According to the sources, the social networking company had planned to show public posts even from the those people who were not followed by the user in the search results display but it later realized that the users more loved scrolling the posts made by their friends and pages they liked.
Tom Stocky, Facebook’s vice president of search, said, “Usually when you think about information retrieval, it’s all about matching content to queries or content to intent. But what we found is that on Facebook people care as much if not more about who is posting the content as they do about what the actual content is.”
Meanwhile, the social networking analysts believe that the ‘keyword search’ is a big accomplishment for Facebook.
