Google has just rolled a new chat app specially designed for business meetings.
Meet by Google Hangouts is a new chat app that targets the professional industry. The functions seem similar to the old Hangouts, but they have gone through an improvement session to become more comfortable for the business sector. Thus, from now on enterprise teams and business fellows will be able to open their own private conference windows where they can remotely communicate and cooperate with one another through HD video calls.
Google added a new addition to its G Suite lineup. This time, the product is intended mainly for the business sector. The present interface isn’t as glossy and entertaining as other such chat apps targeted for the large public. Instead, the platform appears all white and has the sole functionality of a landing page. This level of simplicity intends to clear the background noise altogether and offer just a blank field where professionals have to enter a code in order to participate in their digital meetings. On the other hand, some experts believe that this interface will be populated with more features later on.
For the moment, the chat app appears to be practical in its design exactly as what any business meeting needs. Moreover, the code introduction is a smart move that turns the new Meet chat app away from the outdated Hangouts. With the old messenger version, there was always the possibility for an outsider to join a meeting. Thus, the new concept offers safe, secure, confidential, and isolated conferences.
Another difference between Meet and Hangouts is the number of supported members that can join a meeting. People were able to gather in groups of ten only. However, the limit of participants increased to 30 persons. There are also new features that seem to be specially created for business meetings only. The chat app offers dial-in numbers that make the participation to video conferences easy to do while people are traveling. However, this function is available only through G Suite Enterprise Edition.
The new Meet chat app is always keeping users updated on their incoming meetings. The app shows details such as location, time, subject, and others so that the possibilities of forgetting about an important call are kept next to zero. Mobile users can push the Join button for an instant appearance during a conference. They can also mute or switch off videos. For the moment, Meet is available only on Apple App Store and on desktop.
