Apple is a notorious tech company that designs, develops, and markets online services, computer software, and consumer electronics. The flagship products of the organizations are the iPhone smartphone, iPad tablet, Apple TV, Mac computer, iPod portable player, and the Apple smartwatch. On June 6, 2016, Forbes named the tech giant the third top company of its kind with a total revenue of $233 billion. As of recently, Apple plans to enter the industry of cable operators. To achieve its goals, the company is preparing an all inclusive bundle of TV channels.
The Premium Bundle Would Have HBO, Starz, and Showtime
As of recently, the tech behemoth revealed yet another program with which to entice its iPhone and Apple TV customers towards its premium services. Thus, Apple wants to offer one premium bundle with three popular channels. These would be Showtime, HBO, and Starz television channels. The company is already offering these services to its customers. However, they are promoted as individual packages which are not a plan that suits all kinds of budgets.
A source close to the matter stated that the tech company has already opened a line of communication with all three companies. If all parties agree to the proposal, Apple will have a top-notch product that can compete with all the other cable operators on the market.
Apple Would Provide a More Affordable Service in Comparison to other Cable Operators
The competitive edge for Apple will regard the pricing strategy. Usually, clients have to pay for a basic service of TV channels before they can unlock the premium package. Apple wants to reset these standards. Thus, it will offer the premium bundle as a standalone feature for all its clients.
For the moment, no representatives on behalf of the TV channels accepted to comment on the news. The price tag of the upcoming bundle is yet unknown. However, it is definitely going to be a much enticing offer than it is for now. Customers can enjoy HBO on Apple platforms for $15 a month, Showtime for $11 per month, while the Starz channel comes at the price of $9.
Apple is not at in its first attempt to penetrate this market. Back in 2015, the company tried to compile a range of popular live channels under its streaming television service. However, the deal was off because of providers who were reluctant to the offer.
