The news channel is a popular American source of daily updates that has kept the population informed since 1996. Rupert Murdoch is currently the chairman of this business. Murdoch together with other executives decided to transport the organization in the modern world. As a first step to mark this transformation, they decided to replace their old business slogan with a new one that has a contemporary edge.
The Old Business Slogan Had an Unwanted Association with Roger Ailes
Fox News used to synthesize the essence of its business format through the line of “Fair & Balanced.” The reason behind this decision is related to an unwanted association. The former slogan was a reminiscent of Roger Ailes. This was a controversial public figure that was eliminated from his high-tier position at Fox News. The context that brought his dismissal was his involvement in a sexual harassment scandal. This was one of the major setbacks the company went through. Ailes succumbed to death after this event in May.
According to Sherman, Roger Ailes was the author of the slogan that enjoyed great popularity while it lasted. Official documents confirm this supposition with a trademark registration of the line filed in the year of 2003. Ailes himself used to take any opportunity to boast over his trademarked slogan.
The New Moniker Promotes Fox News as the News Channel with Best Ratings
Therefore, the company needed to turn a new page in its history. While the organization shows many signs of searching for a new direction, which calls for a chaotic conduct, it chose to make a symbolic gesture of change. This was replacing the old business slogan with its other one, namely “Most Watched. Most Wanted.”
The new slogan acted as a secondary moniker that has been used as well in the past to showcase the potential of this business. Moreover, the line stands true for most of its part. Fox News is by far the news channel with the highest ratings in America.
