If you are bored of the same old remote design for Apple TV, you are in luck because the Apple has released the long-awaited TV Remote app for iOs, which transforms your Apple mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch into a Siri Remote for its fourth generation of Apple TV.
This new app was previously announced last year when Apple introduced the current Apple TV, as a way to connect the Siri feature on both your iPhone and TV. Although the company planned to release the app in the first half of the year, the long wait has not disappointed fans as it’s a welcoming addition to a phones functions while enhancing the Apple TV’s capabilities as well.
The Apple TV Remote app is now available to download for free. The only requirement for its install is that the user’s devices must have at least the 9.3.2 version of iOs or a later one. Besides the traditional remote functionality, the app provides users with ‘the best of the Siri Remote’, including the voice search most Apple customers are familiar with already.
Unfortunately, its most impressive feature, Siri Remote, is available only for the latest version of Apple TV. The rest of app’s functionality will work with older models of the company’s set-top box.
One advantage the traditional remote for Apple TV has over the iOs app is the fact that the remote has dedicated buttons for volume control and an infrared blaster which allows it to function with older TV versions. The mobile devices the app is available on, lack any infrared capabilities and thus you aren’t able to use it to control the volume of older TV’s, receivers and soundbars.
The Apple TV Remote app can be used to native the TV through touch controls, and you can input text through iOs device’s keyboard. The app will display controls for all sorts of media including currently playing movies, TV channels or music, as well as game controls when you activate the Game Mode.
With this new app, Apple has expanded once again their ecosystem, which allows for a high level of connectivity between multiple devices.
