E-commerce giant Amazon is reportedly planning to try hand in the travel industry and buzz is all around that it is soon going to launch its new service, known as Travel.
A report by Skift said that the new Amazon Travel service will allow the users to plan their travel and book accommodation after choosing from a range of independent hotels and resorts in major cities.
If report is to be believed, the company will make the initial roll out of the Travel service soon and it is expected to include select hotels located at a few hours driving distance from major cities including Los Angeles, New York and Seattle.
The service is expected to be officially unveiled on January 1, the report said.
According to Skift, it had spoken to three hotel representatives and found two of them already enrolled for the Amazon service. The third hotel is planning to join the e-retailer soon, the report added.
Recently, a job advertisement was listed seeking travel market managers for the Amazon Local, Boston.
“We are actively seeking a tenacious Market Manager to drive the sales efforts for Amazon Local’s travel category in the greater Boston area,” the job listing read.
Meanwhile, Amazon was unavailable for confirmation of the report.
