Uncharted 4 was programmed to be launched on May 10th.
Life is just ironic sometimes. And Sony learned that lesson the hard way when a shipment full of copies of A Thief’s End was stolen. It seems that the games were headed towards the United Kingdom when they disappeared in uncharted territory.
Children usually like to play pretend. Dress up as their favorite characters, mimic their behavior or manner of speaking. Adults thought of a way of getting away with that kind of child play and named it cosplay.
You see them at every gaming convention and Comic-Con. People dressed up as Ezio from Assassin’s Creed leaping from place to place, trying to act as their favorite character. Real cosplay means actually mimicking the character’s personality, not only its clothes.
And it seems that Nathan Drake, the lead character of Uncharted has some serious fans out there. Not only were they impatient, not willing to wait for the game to be officially launched, but they did what Drake would have, they stole an entire shipment of Uncharted 4 copies.
The funniest thing about the fact that A Thief’s end was stolen is the fact that the company did not mention the country in which the theft took place, so technically, A Thief’s End was stolen in uncharted territory.
According to Sony’s press release, they are working with the police to find the missing copies. They did mention that a few of the video games surfaced in the United Kingdom, but the rest of the transport is still missing.
“An extremely talented team has worked long and hard to bring Nathan Drake’s greatest adventure to life and we would urge you to help us prevent this from being spoiled by purchasing copies of the game ahead of the launch date. Please rest assured we will be very vigilant to protect you from this as far as we can so you can enjoy Uncharted 4’s experience to its fullest on May 10,” said Shuhei Yoshida, the SCE Worldwide Studios president.
According to the beta testers, Uncharted 4 is the greatest Nathan Drake adventure yet. And while there is a chance that the stolen shipment will lead to spoilers, Sony’s biggest concern should be the fact that those copies will certainly be pirated, and many fans will explore Uncharted free of charge.
A Thief’s End was stolen, and that is either a sign that the Naughty Dog game is either really good and fans can’t wait to put their hands on it, or that some people took their Nathan Drake cosplay to the next level.
