Less than half of people in the United States believe that President Barack Obama loves his country, according to a new poll.
The Huffington Post/YouGov survey has showed 47 percent of Americans (participating in the study) believe the Democratic President loves America, but another 35 percent say he doesn’t have affection for his country. 17 percent of the participating Americans said they are unsure about it.
Recently, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani has doubted over the intentions of President Obama and said that “he doesn’t love America”. The survey comes on the heels of Giuliani’s comments.
“I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America. He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country,” said Giuliani during a New York City event last week.
Democrats have launched a scathing attack at Giuliani for questioning Obama’s love and integrity for his nation and urged the potential field of presidential nominees of Republicans to reprimand Giuliani for his remarks.
58 percent of the surveyed participants said that Giuliani loves the United States, while only 10 percent said he doesn’t.
The survey also revealed that more Americans believe that the President doesn’t think the US is exceptional. 41 percent of the surveyed people believe that Obama doesn’t consider America is exceptional, but 36 percent believe the President does believe the US is an exceptional country.
As far as Obama’s patriotism is considered, 39 percent said the President is less patriotic as compared to the most people in public life. 33 percent of the participants believe Obama is patriotic, while 12 percent believe he is more patriotic.
The survey, which involved 1,000 Americans, was conducted between February 20 and February 23.
