It was reported that on Tuesday morning, FBI investigators and representatives of the State Police started a raid at Jared Fogle’s home, withdrawing various pieces of equipment for review.
Not long after that, the famous Subway chain announced the suspension of their relationship with their famous spokesman, Jared Fogle. According to a statement they released on Tuesday afternoon, the decision was mutual and Fogle was completely onboard with it.
As it can be seen, there are no more references to neither Fogle nor his Foundation on Subway’s website.
Both representatives of the company and Fogle’s neighbors are shocked to see electronics and computers being pulled out of his home by FBI agents.
While definitely this does not sound like good news for Subway’s former spokesman, it remains unclear what the investigation is about. Most speculations are related to the scandal the Jared Foundation’ ex-executive, Russell Taylor has been involved in, after being arrested with various counts of child pornography, including producing and possessing such materials.
His arrest followed the accusations of a woman who was in contact with him and who received explicit texts where Taylor offered to show her some of his images depicting child pornography.
Even if Jared Fogle immediately terminated any relationship with Taylor, it seems that he was not released of all suspicions involving the investigation.
Fogle could not be reached for explanations, but, according to various witnesses, he was seen entering the investigation truck where the equipment from his home was taken.
An FBI spokesperson said that the raid is related to a criminal investigation but she did not comment further on the matter and did not confirm the suppositions related to Taylor’s charges.
His lawyer, Ron Elberger, said that his client has nothing to hide and that he is fully willing to collaborate with the investigators.
However, because no formal statement was issued by the police, everybody is waiting to see what the investigation is really about and whether Subway’s former star has anything to do with his employee’s allegations.
