A 9-year-old girl who has been missing for many days was recently returned back safely to her home on Wade Hampton Street. The encounter with her family at about 1:30 a.m. was more than emotional, as seen on CBS 11 News.
Her 24-year-old uncle, the man who allegedly abducted her was shot and killed by FBI agents on Tuesday, the 26th of May, at about 2 p.m., when he started shooting at the officers as well.
Caitlyn Williams was kidnapped by her uncle, Jessie Nicholas Williams most likely on Friday, April 22nd , when the girl’s family reported her missing early in the morning. She was supposed to spend the weekend with one of her friends, but never got there.
The Benbrook Police Department collaborated with the FBI in their attempt to find the girl and her abductor.
The police started a very thorough search on Tuesday morning, believing that the girl was in great danger. They finally got a tip that the uncle was at a Days Inn motel located in Bossier City, in Louisiana. There had been various witnesses that saw the two of them together over the weekend. They said that the girl was fine and she was spotted playing with other children. Her uncle, however, was suspicious all the time and avoided other people’s gazes.
The man was armed and started firing at the officers. He managed to hurt one of them in the leg but was shot to death for his bold attempt to escape armed forces.
Luckily, the girl was not in the motel room during the fire exchange between Jessie Williams and the authorities.
According to police reports, the girl was safe and was returned to her family not long after she was found.
Her father, Shawn Williams, was very grateful to the members of the community and especially law enforcement for aiding in his daughter’s rescue.
It is not yet clear what the motive behind this abduction was. “We want to know why, and the only person who knows is Caitlyn, so we just have to wait and see,” said Caitlyn’s aunt.
There haven’t been any reports related to the girl’s relationship with her uncle and it is not known if he might have hurt her in any way.
It was reported that the agents are currently investigating Williams’ apartment in Arlington, as well as his computer to see if there has been any unusual activity.
The authorities are trying to establish if the man had ever “inappropriately touched” children. It was not reported whether he had harmed his niece.
