Actress and director Rose McGowan has been one of the most vocal advocates that support #metoo movement in the wake of Harvey Weinstein scandal. While she was revealing her traumatizing experiences with the Hollywood oligarch, an arrest warrant was looming with her name on it. McGowan alleged that Weinstein raped her and then planned to buy her silence with a million dollars.
McGowan Has to Appear in Front of Court Due to Drug Possession Charges
However, once Rose McGowan chose to go public with this story, she automatically became a new target for media scrutiny. This is how on Monday the media uncovered a warrant for McGowan.
The document was issued at the beginning of this year on February 1. These circumstances place the arrest authorization much earlier than the Weinstein scandal. The document is related to drug charges.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department confirmed the fact that they managed to obtain a warrant for the arrest of the actress. The allegations concern possession of a controlled substance which falls under felony charges.
On January 20, the Hollywood star forgot personal possessions on a flight with destination Washington Dulles International Airport. The police intercepted the belongings and tested them for narcotics. The results came back positive.
As a result, the police expect McGowan to present herself in front of the court in Loudoun County, Va. A national law enforcement database has also recorded an entry with her name.
McGowan Tweeted that Somebody Is Trying to Silence Her in Connection to Her February Arrest Warrant
In response to this uncovered arrest warrant, McGowan turned to Twitter to ask a question “Are they trying to silence me?” It is not clear if the actress referred to the warrant itself or to the fact that this incident appeared on media. The document was released months before Weinstein’s sexual abuses were made public.
Harvey Weinstein was one of the most influential producers in Hollywood. However, it turned out that he used his power in this industry to take advantage of celebrities and other women he met through his work.
