Amazon which had already released its $99 Fire TV box set. To take the things a step further, the company has now launched its Fire TV stick. This launch from the stores of Amazon is likely to be seen as a competitor for ChromeCast from Google.
The Fire TV stick has been priced at $39 which is $4 more than the price Google charges for its ChromeCast. With the help of this Fire TV stick, the users can now directly stream Spotify, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Videos to their television screens.
A comparison of ChromeCast service from Google and Fire TV stick from Amazon has revealed some interesting facts. While the ChromeCast FCNSP.v5 service is priced at $35, Fire TV will cost users $39. Early Bird offer is still available and Fire TV stick is available for $19 if you get the same before Wednesday.
Amazon’s Fire TV scores a point over Google’s ChromeCast as it has almost double the internal storage space than ChromeCast. Fire TV has a storage space of 8 GB. You can also use dual band WiFi with Fire TV stick as compared to single band WiFi in ChromeCast.
Another distinct advantage of Fire TV stick is that the users get a separate remote to operate the same. In comparison, the ChromeCast service from Google is operated through smartphone which can be quite a hassle.
Amazon had planned to start shipping the Fire TV stick by November 19th but considering the increasing demand, the company has decided to start shipments in early 2015 after producing bulk units of Fire TV stick.
However, the users who have pre ordered the same will start getting it after 19th November.
