Five members of a family were found dead in their home from Tulsa, in a peaceful and well-kept suburban area. Two teenage boys might be related to the crime and they are now in police custody.
According to Police Sergeant Thomas Cooper, the police officers were called at about 11:30 on Wednesday, July 22 , to check on an unknown problem on Broken Arrow.
When they got into the homes, they found five bodies, another girl in very serious condition and a child who hadn’t been hurt. The latter was taken into state custody and the wounded girl was taken to the hospital for medical care. No details have been disclosed yet.
Two male teenagers who were relatives of the family, aged 16 and 18 were held into police custody immediately after the police officers discovered the bodies, because a trained dog followed their scent.
“It appears that the two suspects fled out the door sometime during our arrival. We had a canine track and they were apprehended,” Sgt. Cooper stated.
The home where the victims used to live was one of the most expensive and largest houses in the area. The neighborhood is very well-kept and extremely quiet. It is located on the Arkansas river, southeast of Tulsa.
The crimes horrified the neighbors, who stated that any criminal activity is extremely unusual in this area.
According to Helen Hoagland, a woman who lives nearby, the house was owned by a family of seven- two parents and five children. She also said that she saw the mother on several occasions walking in the area with her children. The children were home schooled and their mother seemed to be quite strict and demanding.
“We just have a great neighborhood. That’s just crazy; it’s absolutely crazy,” she said. Sgt. Cooper backed her opinion and said that there are very few homicides in the area, about one or two every two years, given tat Broken Arrow only has a population of about 103,000
The police have set parameters around the house, as the investigation is ongoing. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were also asked for assistance in this case.
