Social networking giant Facebook has unveiled a new free mobile application for its widely used service Groups feature that allow users to create and interact with various communities on the website, which are based on their hobbies, culture or geography.
According to the company, it is continuously working on the expansion of its presence on as many mobile devices as possible by creating and buying different apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Paper.
The applications that the social network has created from scratch from its Creative Labs have faced several levels of success.
With the new Facebook Groups app, the users can easily organize their groups for their easy and better access. When the app is opened, the user will see all their Groups formed on Facebook at one place. The groups most frequently visited will appear at the top of the launch page. The user can instantly move between each group as the app will offer much easier access to jumping into a group and communicate and then again jump over to another.
Till now, the Facebook groups appear within the News Feed. Hence, communication is not as distinct as the new Groups app will offer.
According to the company, out of 1.35 billion members of Facebook, more than 700 million use Groups.
Groups are becoming increasingly popular among the Facebook users these days.
Facebook product manager Shirley Sun said there are “hundreds of millions” of groups on the social forum where members form community and share their likes and dislikes.
These groups portray them as a community who share similar views, hobbies and plans on endless topics ranging from holiday dinners, travelling, health issues to social issue, agenda and for a cause.
