Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has been acquiring experience in the mobile market for 30 years now. The Chinese company has announced at CES 2017 the arrival of its new flagship product. The Huawei Mate 9 is their next smartphone to be launched in the US. The product looks promising, and it has already gained a competitive advantage with a pre-installed personal digital assistant from Amazon.
In 2016, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. assured for itself the third place among global smartphone brands. This year, the ambition of the company was imbued in Huawei Mate 9. This product is the first generation of smartphones that gained the Amazon approval to preinstall Alexa directly on the software. Alexa is an intelligent personal assistant that can offer a large range of services to consumers thanks to its artificial intelligence capabilities. The technology can conduct voice interactions, play music, make to-do lists, set the alarms, control connected smart devices, and offer real-time information about weather, traffic, and others.
The Chinese company promised to launch their latest product at the beginning of 2017. Huawei advertised the smartphone as a true competitor to popular brands such as Apple and Samsung. Amazon Inc. will also have a lot to gain from this move. The voice-activated digital assistant has to battle similar services offered by other tech giants such as Google with its Google Assistant, Apple and its Siri, and Microsoft with its Cortana.
Huawei Mate 9 is of large dimensions of 6.18 x 3.11 x 0.31 inch with a screen to body ratio of 77.5%. These specs put it in the phablet category. It scores big points with its powerful processor of 1.8Gz octa-core. The camera enjoys a 20-megapixel capability, and the RAM comes with 4GB, but it can cover a total of 256GB with a microSD card.
Huawei Mate 9 has already been released in Europe as of November 2016. The product enjoyed a warm welcome from consumers, but it was delivered without its main competitive advantage, namely the Alexa bot. However, no Huawei customer will be left without the latest mobile technology. The app is scheduled to be delivered to all Mate 9 owners in the form of an over-the-air update.
