In a surprising incident, a 23-year-old woman in Boston came to know about her pregnancy status just an hour before giving birth to a child.
Katherine Kropas, from Weymouth, Mass.,had recently visited her doctors with complains of stomach and back pain.
According to the reports, Kropas was eagerly waiting for answers for her back and stomach pains until finally her doctors confirmed her pregnancy report.
Adding to the bizarreness, Kropas gave birth to a baby girl, Ellie, an hour later.
The newborn weighed 10 pounds, 2 ounces, according to the hospital sources.
Speaking over the surprising incident, a senior medical contributor to a media house said, “For most women who have been pregnant, they are aware of multiple physical signs and symptoms… and those signs are very noticeable.”
According to her, cases like Kropas’s are also not very rare.
“It tends to happen in women who are overweight or obese to start, may have irregular periods and are less aware of their bodies,” the medical contributor said.
The doctor, who delivered the baby in Boston, said that such cases were not new to him as his hospital witnesses a “couple” of such cases almost each year where the woman learns about her pregnancy status only weeks or days before giving birth to the baby.
